Screwfix Live 2018

This weekend we did our annual trip to Screwfix Live in nearby Farnborough. Lots of freebies and kids activities as usual. There was a "Hit the button" game where we were rewarded with lvoely slinky toys, loads of free pens, Screw Fix footballs (yay! ...but need pumping) and the usual "£30" bag of goodies which they seem to be giving away for free anyway!

The goody bag included things such as AA batteries, paint brushes, cable ties, hardware gloves, Yale lock etc. good quality items.

At the same time, Kay was hagning out with her Aldershot friends in the town center.

Mid-Autumn Festival and Hatchlands Park

It was the Mid-Autumn festival at the Chinese Association of Woking this weekend. The kids were involved in the show held at St John the Baptist Catholic school in both the Lion dance and Wu Tan Kung Fu display! What a proud mum and dad to see their children taking part.

On Sunday we had the usual 8.30am (8.30am!) swimming lessons for Jasmine and Marco. By mid-day da decided to view a possible new family car in Epsom. We were interested in the Carens with the panoramic sunroof, leather interior, 7 seats and folding door mirrors (!) but, unsurprisingly, we could not negotiate a good deal and left it there.

Since we were in Epsom, we decided to drive to nearby Weybridge to bag some Home Bargains (bath salts!) and on the way back there was enough time to visit Hatchlands Park. This time around, the house park of the property was open we Marco was excited to see they had a quiz, one simple one hard, which we had fun doing.

Another happy weekend!

Bristol trip 2017

This was our itinerary:

Day 1: Visit dad's friend's new restaurant and check into the hotel in Bristol
Day 2: Tour of Bristol taking in Museums, Chinese supermarket, Cathedral and library
Day 3: Day out in Cardiff, Wales
Day 4: Tour of Clifton Suspension bridge and visit yet another Chinese supermarket/Ikea
Day 5: Climb Cabot's tower, visit Roger's restaurant again before driving home to Guildford

Day 1
It was a mad rush in the morning as was expected, stuffing clothes in suitcases and last minute deciding what to pack. Each kid was allowed 1 teddy bear to bring as well as a book. We did eventually set off around 9.30am as we needed to arrive at Keynsham to visit dad's friend's new restaurant at around 11am to 12pm and it takes around 2 hours to drive there from Guildford.

The drive was pretty boring, going along Surrey's suburban and country roads, going around Bracknell until we reached the M4 motorway. It got a bit interesting, half way, when we started to see lots of snow settled around and dad certainly felt he had to drive a bit more carefully in case the car might skid out of control.

When we got off the M4 towards Bath, there was still quite a lot of settled snow and we tried to stop at a side road to take a photo but the roads were quite busy with traffic. We carried on some country and suburban roads until we got near Keynsham, much to dad's relief with the annoying drone of "are we there yet?" and "how much longer?" coming from the kids.

We parked up at
